LUANDA, Nov. 15, 2016 – Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Limited (CABGOC), a subsidiary of Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX), together with the Block 0 Association Partners: National Concessionaire, Sociedade Nacional de Combustíveis de Angola (Sonangol E.P.), Total E.P. Angola, and Eni Angola Production B.V., have announced the start of operations of the Early Production System (EPS) for the Mafumeira Sul project, located in the Block 0 concession off the coast of Malongo in Cabinda Province.
Start-up of the EPS at the new Sul Wellhead Platform is the first of several milestones aimed at rampingup to full production for the Mafumeira Sul project, located approximately 15 miles (24 km) off the Angolan coast in approximately 200 feet (60 m) of water. The EPS is designed to provide up to 10,000 barrels of oil per day of production while the main production facilities are being completed and made ready for operations over the next several months. The drilling program for the project is planned to continue through 2018.
