press release CABGOC responds to an incident at BBLT platform

Luanda, May 20, 2025 – At approximately 3:10 a.m. today, a fire occurred on the cellar deck of CABGOC’s Benguela Belize Lobito Tomboco (BBLT) deepwater facility, located in Block 14 offshore Cabinda. All personnel on board have been accounted for.
Seventeen individuals sustained injuries, with four in a severe condition; all are now onshore and are receiving medical attention. The safety and well-being of our workforce remains our highest priority.

CABGOC personnel responded immediately and successfully extinguished the fire. Our emergency protocols were activated to implement emergency response procedures and notify the relevant authorities.

The cause of the incident is currently under investigation. The BBLT facility was undergoing annual maintenance within a scheduled turnaround activity and all production at the site had been shut in since 1st May 2025.

CABGOC’s top priorities are ensuring the safety of all personnel and determining the root cause of the incident. We will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
