press release presentation in cabinda of factory model for asset development
Cabinda, February 18, 2020 - The National Agency for Oil, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG), as concessionaire, regulator and supervisor of the sector in the upstream segment, and CABGOC (Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Limited), a subsidiary of Chevron, presented today a new model of standardized manufacturing of platforms and exploration of oilfields. The innovation is based on the use of the factory model known by the English designation Stacked Template Structure (STS), in Portuguese, a plataforma suportada por condutores.
This is the new concept of simplification of structures in offshore installations that will be applied for the first time in Block 0, in the Lifua A oil field, located in Cabinda province. The components of the modular structure platform will be built at the Algoa yard in Malembo.
It is an innovative solution that will reduce project costs, shorten cycle and contribute to job creation locally.
For the ANPG Board of Director’s President, Paulino Jerónimo, contributed to the materialization of the project the approval from the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Petroleum of the Marginal Discovery Declaration. "The project reflects the government initiative to improve the business environment in the country, with the approval of Decree 6/18, referring to marginal fields. It will generate about 300 direct jobs for the population of Cabinda," he said.
"Chevron has been operating in Angola for more than 60 years and we believe that the Factory model will optimize our production because it is a less expensive solution that monetizes the existing structures of Block 0 and will generate job creation and training of Angolan staff; it will be a concept made in Angola, by Angolans and for Angolans," said Derek Magness, Cabgoc's Managing Directorสบ.
The event was attended by Cabinda Provincial Governor, Marcos Alexandre Nhunga, the Minister of Mineral Resources and Petroleum, Diamantino Azevedo, the Administrator of the National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG), Belarmino Chitangueleca, and Block 0 Partners.
